Carb-Loading the Thai Way: Fuel Up for the London Marathon

Marathon weekend turns London into a sea of runners, and the night before is all about the right fuel. Pasta is the cliché, but Thai food does the job just as well, with rice and noodles that are easy to eat and easy on the stomach.

What should runners eat the night before?

Aim for carbohydrate without too much fat or heat. A plate of pad thai or a simple noodle dish with steamed rice on the side ticks the box. Go gentle on the chilli the night before a race, and save the fiery curry for your reward.

Refuel after the finish line

Once the medal is round your neck, the rules go out the window. This is the moment for the big, comforting bowl you have been dreaming of through the last few miles. A rich curry and a cold drink have rarely tasted better.

Close to the course

With Thai Square Putney Bridge near the early miles and our central restaurants close to the finish, we are well placed for marathon weekend. Look at the menu and book ahead, because the whole city is hungry that weekend.
