Thai Food Culture- Most amazing and a unique one

The overwhelming popularity of the Thai food across the globe has somehow made the word Thai emerge as a word of domestic vocabulary. Well the fact is Thais are indeed foodie and they really love food! Thai food is omnipresent nowadays, no matter where you are placed in Thailand or any other part of the world, you are certainly within walking distance of food. Especially in Thailand, food vendors with carts on wheels, mini restaurants established on motorbikes, food markets, food stalls, of course floating food vendors and supermarkets is a pretty common sight. This ensures that one can always grab something to eat regardless of the time of day or night in Thailand.

Not only this but food holds a special place in Thailand and is so significant that even a normal way of greeting someone is “did you eat already?” Rather one can always witness people eating in public at all times and in all places as eating is not really reckoned as a private affair.

Here are some clear Thai food culture differences from the Westerners:

• Westerners visit the beach to swim and get tanned but Thais go there for eating and drinking.

• When Thais go out for any sort of outing in nature, they always carry along a basket filled with food and drink.

• Apart from that one can hardly be enquired about his liking for the American food in the US or UK as possibly no one gives a damn about your culinary tastes (likes and dislikes). Whereas, in Thailand, one would surely be asked numerous times about his liking for Thai food.

• There is a high probability that soon after meeting a Thai, in a couple of minutes of conversation you will be enquired about your liking for the Thai food. Well, in case you answer in a yes then you naturally become a little more acceptable. Then of course if you convey your liking for the spicy food then you automatically move up the acceptance ladder even further.

• On the flipside, your lack of interest for the Thai food will shock Thai people and compel them to question your visit to Thailand even.

• Unlike the Westerners, Thais don’t constitute of drawn-out sit down meals with starter, main course, dessert etc. Their meals primarily comprise of one plate of food which is eaten quickly besides being prepared in no time.

• In contrast to the western culture Thais don’t consume big, heavy meals but rather prefer eating small meals frequently throughout the day.

• Not to forget, having food in Thailand is pretty reasonable, convenient and fun.
